Protein could be received from legumes, beans, lentils, peas, free range eggs, raw milk, cheese, yogurt, nuts and seeds, as well as non-dairy nut and seed milks.

  • Calcium

Calcium is important for two main things which we all know about: for keeping the bones and teeth healthy and strong. Without having strong teeth and bones, you might suffer from pain in unexpected places and ways and might not be able to perform specific tasks due to not having the strength for them. In addition to the importance of calcium for the bones and teeth, it is also important for the nervous system to function in a proper way. The recommended daily amount of calcium needed for adults is 1,000 to 1,200 mg. There are different sources to receive calcium from; it could be dark greens, such as broccoli, kale, and Chinese cabbage, it could be from sea vegetables, such as wakame, hijiki, kelp, dulse, and arame, and it could otherwise come from some dairy products like yogurt, milk, and cheese.

As we have mentioned at the beginning of the article, vitamins and proteins are usually the things thought about at the beginning of anything and that’s why B12 is one important nutrient to supply the body with.

Vitamin B12 is needed because it helps the body to make new red blood cells and help keep the nervous system healthy. This type of vitamin is also essential because it lowers the level of homocysteine which is considered important because elevated levels of homocysteine might cause strokes and could lead to heart disease. We could say that the absence of B12 vitamin in the body could lead to different problems; it could lead to anemia, cause memory loss, confusion, mood swings, and could also lead to depression.

Zinc is important because it maintains the sense of smell for the body, it keeps the immune system healthy, build proteins, trigger enzymes, create DNA, and it also helps the cells in the body to communicate as a neurotransmitter.

Magnesium is as important as calcium and vitamin D and it is even considered more important than calcium due to the role it manages to play. The sources that magnesium could come from include the green, leafy vegetables, starches, grains and nuts, and raw milk, even though these are not considered enough to supply the body with its daily needs which is believed to be more than 500 mg per day for both men and women.
